Well CREST members, we did it! Finally, we are going back to Temecula to resurrect some of our wonderful special events we always spoke about. The first one for 2022 will be the Hot Air Balloon and Wine Festival being held on June 3, 4, and 5. Our participation will be assisting to park vehicles. The more care we assist parking the more income (donation) we will receive but this takes manpower. Communications will also be a major part of our function. You all agreed to participate in a minimum of TWO team events per year. This is our first for 2022. We need your help! It will be held at Lake Skinner Regional Park.
The times we need your help are:
FRIDAY 1300 – 2200 (1pm-10pm)
SATURDAY: 0600-2000 (6am-8pm)
SUNDAY: 0600-2000 (6am-10pm)
As a partial reward for volunteering, you will be allowed admittance to the event. There will be some nationally recognized people that will be there entertaining. Someone said something about “American Idol” and Country Music.
Without sufficient volunteer help we will not accept this invitation so you need to contact us now to get your name on the list for entrance clearance.
We already have 14 team members who volunteered.
The popular Balloon & Wine Festival is the biggest outdoor event of the season in Temecula, combining the region’s love of wine with its popular activity, hot air ballooning. It is one of the area’s longest running events featuring dawn hot air balloon launches, (weather permitting) Friday and Saturday evening balloon glows, wine tasting from over 20 premium wineries, Wine Pairing, and live concerts on several stages.
Our first festival was held in 1984 and proved an instant success. There were only six wineries at the time, but the concept was enthusiastically welcomed and the rest is history. The event has been held in several locations throughout its decades of existence but since it keeps growing, it is currently hosted at Skinner Lake, 37701 Warren Rd., Winchester, CA 92596.
Directions: From Interstate 15, exit EAST on Rancho California Road or Winchester Road. Watch for directional signs to Lake Skinner which is approximately 10 miles east of I-15. If you have exited on Rancho California Road, you will go through the beautiful Temecula Wine County and the lake is located just past the wine country.
More information will be forthcoming as the dates near closer as to what to bring, wear, etc.
In order to be sure we have contacted EVERYONE, please advise your availability even if you cannot work one of the days. This opens up so many good future events for us based on our participation and effectiveness. Heck, we’ve done this for decades so it is just a matter of sharing some of that experience off on some of our new members.
